The Weimar Republic in its first years of existence faced two major challenges. The two challenges they faced were the Spartakis Uprising of 1919 and the Kapp Putsch that occurred 1920. The Spartakis Uprising essentially was an attempt to take over Berlin however it failed, the reason it failed was the interference of the Freikorps. The Uprising was led by Karl Liebknect and Rosa Luxembourg, and the reason for the name of the uprising was because they turned the Spartikists League into a German communist party. The second major challenge that deemed to be difficult for the Weimar Republic was the Kapp Putsch. The reason this was difficult to handle was a result of the Treaty of Versailles, a condition that Germany had to do was lessen their arsenal and this opened up an opportunity for something known as the Wolfgang Kapp march that occurred on Berlin 1920. To stop the March Berlin and it's inhabitants and many of the workers had to do something known as the general strike, where they shut off essentially everything like electricity and power.
Mussolini's rise to power in Italy was made possible by his March on Rome. Another contributor he did that allowed him to obtain power was something called the Lateran Accords of 1929, this was a pact signed between the Kingdom of Italy and the Holy See and it recognized the Vatican city, this helped Mussonli and could possibly be the reason he came into power. Basically the only thing that could prevent Mussolini from coming into power was the Church. As It was the most powerful remaining body in Italy. Pope Pius XI signed a deal with Mussolini as he gave the Church control over education in schools, recognition as a religious state and the reason the signing of the Lateran Accords were important was because in this deal Pius got control over the Vatican.
